Dear Shareholders,
We are pleased to announce that cevidoplenib (SKI-O-703), a SYK inhibitor candidate jointly discovered and developed by OSCOTEC and its U.S. subsidiary Genosco, has been licensed to Agios Pharmaceuticals, a U.S.-based biopharmaceutical company specializing in treatments for rare diseases.
The agreement has a total potential value of up to USD 665 million—approximately KRW 1 trillion—including a non-refundable upfront payment of USD 25 million, or approximately KRW 37.5 billion. The upfront payment and future milestone payments received from Agios will be allocated between OSCOTEC and Genosco at a ratio of 75% and 25%, respectively.
Cevidoplenib has been under development since 2014, when it was selected as a project of the Korea Drug Development Fund (KDDF), beginning at the candidate-discovery stage. Since then, two Phase 2 clinical trials have been completed in patients with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). In 2024, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted cevidoplenib Orphan Drug Designation for the treatment of ITP.
Cevidoplenib is currently being evaluated in an investigator-initiated clinical study to assess its potential as a first-line treatment for ITP. A bioequivalence study associated with a change in the drug formulation is also underway.
Cevidoplenib has encountered a number of challenges throughout its development. Nevertheless, OSCOTEC and Genosco have continued working to enhance its value based on its selectivity, safety profile, and development potential in rare diseases. This licensing agreement represents a meaningful achievement and further recognition of those efforts by a global company with specialized expertise.
Through this agreement, OSCOTEC aims to expand the global development potential of cevidoplenib. At the same time, we will continue to focus more intensively on the research and development of our core pipeline of resistance-targeting oncology therapies, guided by our differentiated mid- to long-term R&D strategy.
We sincerely appreciate your continued interest and support.
Thank you.
